why do some white men hate briefs underwear

Yeah....What was that? "Trailblazers and trendsetters"? And "that road is fraught with contempt".
Because I just have too much fun here, and enjoy getting positive comments, everybody wants to diminish my 100% Straight ranking.

Subcommittee on Ambiguously Straight Men....... I throw myself on the mercy of the court!!
Maybe then only wear the red briefs once a month. Anything more raises grave suspicions.

I have personally reviewed the Defendant's "mesh" submissions to the gallery, and I have no objections. I have a few pairs of mesh underwear myself.

Unfortunately. Mother fuckers have to show off here as a form of flashing when nobody wants to see their dick. We have a Show Off forum.
Unfortunately the Show Off forum seems to be (over) populated with member's postings of professional models and porn personalities. Almost no place left there for amateurs..
There are several threads titled 'show yourself in whatever' and those pirates don't seem to understand the meaning of yourself.

Idk, I almost exclusively wear briefs similar to those in my pic (if not, then a thong). I think more guys would wear them if they didn't perceive others would judge or if they didn't feel insecure in them.

I've noticed when in college locker rooms, some would feel uncomfortable showing their briefs and have their shirt over them, but if I was open about it they'd loosen up and be in theirs.

Also noticed that briefs were more popular in college than in HS, maybe due to the fear of judgment being less but also maybe because clothes starting getting more streamlined in the early/mid-2010s.

Your hypothesis appears to be that more guys would wear what you wear, or what you want them to wear, if only they weren't so insecure, fearful or uptight. Why must it be about the judgment of others? Could it be the damn things are uncomfortable compared to other styles? Why do people feign tolerance in one breath, and assail the preferences of others in another breath when those preferences run afoul of their own, and especially when running counter to their sexual predilections?

From my growing up period, it wasn't just white guys that thought it was gay to wear briefs. Briefs were seen as too revealing as they show off your bulge or lack of one and they show off your thighs. This probably coincided with the change in locker room habits that if you got naked you were gay because you wanted to show other guys your body. That thinking still largely prevails today with the younger generation.

I grew up with boxers fading and boxer briefs being popular. I went commando mostly with some boxers and boxer briefs for the times I did wear underwear. Also, briefs are considered old man underwear, since those men always wore them when they were young and it being the style for all or most of their life.
thanks for a very genuine answer dude. I appreciate you sharing the background but could you please clarify which area/country/continent are you referring to, as different countries can have very different histories and perceptions. I can understand the logic that briefs are more revealing than boxers, and hence, the person wearing briefs could be seen as odd, different, out of normal or even exhibitionist to some extent but how come "revealing more skin is equated with being gay", that i can't understand. I have lived in many Asian and African countries and never heard this comment that only gays wear briefs from people there, and people there do wear variety of underwear, i have seen boxers briefs, briefs, bikini briefs, tangas, boxers, and so on but nobody is considered gay/straight based on what they wear, and sorry the reason i mentioned white guys, because i have heard this comment only n only from white people, as my non white friends also know i wear briefs but never heard any such comment from them. Also, next question, as we live in the world of gender equality, as we see both men n women wearing jeans, suits, etc. so, in your observation, do white people or people in general also consider women wearing thongs/bikinis/topless as lesbian just because they reveal too much.. as historically women were required to cover up fully everywhere just like men, so if men who wear revealing clothes are considered gay, then women wearing revealing clothes must be considered lesbian, is it the case? although i have NEVER heard from anyone yet that women in skimpy clothing must be lesbian, so what could be the reason behind seeing men's body different from women's body n that too in today's age? i personally never associate nudity with sexual orientation..

When you say hello white men is this because you think its a white thing?
hello Chris, sorry but i asked white men only as in my numerous years being friends n knowing people with different ethnicities n travelling to many countries, i have only n only heard from white men that only n only gay people wear briefs.. i have not heard such comment from any other races, that why i asked.. sorry, i didn't mean to be rude or something.

that's nice to hear, and i think that's how it should be, underwear should not be linked with sexual orientation..thanks for sharing
I don't hate them or associate them with being gay or whatever. I just personally grew up wearing boxers and I've always found them comfortable to wear so I just wear those

I wear boxers because they are more comfortable than wearing briefs. I can't ever remember wearing "tighty whities." When working out, I'll use boxer briefs because they provide good support.

My partner wears thong and g string panties not because of her sexuality but so her panty lines will not be visible.
thanks, i appreciate your answer and exactly, underwear shouldn't be linked to sexuality n i think in women's case, it is not, but in men's case sometimes..

On one hand, it’s true. Gay men like to wear skimpier underwear. On the other hand, most men wore briefs for a long time. I’m not sure what happened between the 80s and 90s that caused men to start hating briefs and only associate them with gay people. (Disclaimer: I was not alive during the 80s.) Many associate them with their childhood, and their hatred for them might be a form of rebellion or just trying to exercise their independence—whether or not they actually find them comfortable.

As far as the racial piece, it’s not just white men. I would say hetero black men have an even bigger aversion to briefs. But, that might be explained with the aforementioned association. Briefs seem to be fairly accepted among most other races.
i don't know, i know some gay guys who would never wear briefs or any other skimpy underwear, they feel comfortable in boxers and boxer briefs, and they find them sexier too.. and the reason i mentioned about white guys, because i have not heard any such comments that briefs are gay from any other person, i know it might made some people angry but i am just sharing my experience so far... i have been to some asian countries and there i found men wearing bikini type underwears and very freely and they werent gay neither they were considered gay by the society... i think even in south american countries, many men wear briefs... and here, i am not asking why white men generally don't wear briefs, i am asking why they have a negative perception about briefs..

In my opinion, this blog topic should be about all races of men whom decide what underwear they
feel comfortable in wearing. It could be for style, or to accentuate their endowments or to attract
attention… To me, it has nothing to about a gay appearance as a stereotype, and etc. I’m a black man, and I choose to wear the Bikini style underwear for this reason:

I have a long flaccid penis. These briefs help conceal my length in public, and in the workplace. I don’t like noticing the groin area stares, but I can minimize it… I just lay him sideways, lengthwise to my right along the natural curve. It’s sorta like a hammock to keep him in place most of the time, unless I get boner! LOL! - However, I really can’t ever conceal its size completely. Boxer shorts never worked for me because I don’t like the hang down my leg feel, or the look thru my pants. Everyone here on this thread has their own reasons to share. I attached one photo for you to see why I wear this style.
i full agree with you man, that underwear choice should be personal and should not be linked with sexual orientation.. i was just sharing my experience over the last many years of travelling and living in many countries, and it so happened that only white men told me that only gay people wear briefs and that's why i thought of asking the question here, genuinely to understand the perception because i feel we learn only if we ask questions..maybe i will meet some other races people too who will say that only gay wear briefs, and briefs are not for straight men,,,

you raised a very good point "... id they didn't perceive others would judge them" and i agree that men wearing briefs or other similar styles are judged but i don't know the reason why.. and women are not judged for wearing bikinis.. secondly, i see in my asian n south american countries, people (straight/gay/all) wear briefs without any judgement. also, if a person wears boxers there, he is not considered gay or bad just because he wore something different than others, so thats what i am trying to understand from a white man's perspective that what makes them link briefs with gay?

sorry, if my question was misunderstood, i only mentioned white guys in my question because i have interacted with so many people all over the world, but it so happened that only white men told me negative things and their perceived link of briefs with gayness to me, so that's why i asked. i am not asking why white men don't wear briefs (it is a pesonal choice), i am just asking why do they associate briefs or other smaller underwears with gayness when they don't apply this rule to women..
It shouldn't be linked to race either, but for some reason, the OP did it anyway.
