I've dealt with these professionally: there's all kinds of tax rules on creating intellectual property: Seems possible that's what this is. SC paid all expenses to produce a specific video. After production it's sold (for immediate cash) to an Owner who gets the significant tax credits from those actual expenses, then licenses the video back to SC to use and share revenue on for X years. Tax code requires an end-date. Q is what the current 'Owners' intend do with all the 'rights' they've gotten back from the lease, I'm guessing they'll lease them back to SC at a lower rate. That's what they're arguing about now.
