Why does the gay community continue to support queerbaiting and OnlyFans scammers?

These type of people pray on the LGBTQ+ community and the desire the community has on seeing these people in a sexual manner.

Yet, when it's clear they are queerbaiting or scamming on OnlyFans, the LGBTQ+ community continues to support them (such as remaining subscribed to their OnlyFans).

Why?

A perfect example is Harry Jowsey - an OnlyFans creator who scams his followers and fails to post what is expected / what he says something is. Yet he still has a large gay support group, remaining subscribed to him and enabling him to get away with scamming. This is also someone who on his live podcast called James Charles a "f****t" (but continues to be fan girled by the LGBTQ+ community).

james charles is a creep since he sent sexual messages to minors, but yeah using the F-slur is still not okay

Define scamming?

(TW: The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus aren't real either):

I've been in the industry a long time and have worked a lot of jobs and roles, and I can tell you that a GREAT MANY (like a LOT) of the performers aren't actually gay.

Why is this? Straight porn stars don't make shit. Men in porn for a straight scene might make a few hundred bucks, while female talent make thousands. If you can get over it, and you have the looks, marketing to other men is far FAR more worth it than sticking to making the content that your sexuality might align with.

That's studio content. OnlyFans people are no different. They know who pulls out their wallets and they lead with that.

Bottom line: Porn is a fantasy - Social media has shed a lot of light on that fantasy, but like most fantasies, the reality is a lot different.

Problematic performers? People still follow and consume their content because they can still lust after them in private, and compartmentalize the person from the fantasy. The content people sell is separate from that person's actions in life.

Some people don't / can't / wont make that separation because they have a certain type of integrity and won't compromise their morals, others dont do this. Woody Alan or Roman Polanski for example: Icky people, but I've seen Manhattan and Rosemary's Baby more times than I can count because they're really good movies.

it’s cause gays love a muscular body. that’s it. they have encouraged and welcomed so many ppl and i know 99% of straight ppl wouldn't do the same for us. they’ll forgive racism and homophobia and transphobia as long as the guy has abs. ridiculous.

One word: THIRST!

I refuse to pay for OnlyFans or porn to preface this conversation.

Porn is a fantasy. People will support companies that have child labor like Nike. Is everyone who purchases Nike now enabling child labor?

If I was rich I’ll pay for porn that I thought was hot. I’m not looking if the person is actually straight gay, attracted to tomatoes. Yes these “straight” guys in gay porn are annoying. Nonetheless it must be acknowledged they’re doing it just for money; it’s a job.

I worked at Burger King for two weeks. Did I like being an employee there? Of course not. I had a job there to do. That’s how I see these guys. They gotta put food on the table somehow.

Or Timmy Turner (Jerad Carrier).
scammer!!

I don't think there is not a universal answer but I've seen some good ones already said here. Some people simply don't care about performers being a-holes since they only want to get off (I am kind of in this camp tbh)

Mainly bc I don't go out of my way to find out much about their non porn views or real lives (bc usually it's going to be disappointing lol). I suppose if a guy is found out to be genuinely garbage I will not pay for any content of theirs but will still consume it in other (free) ways if they're hot enough.

I think some are just attracted to mostly straight guys so they will clearly enjoy the "queerbaiting" component above all since they get off on the concept of g4p in general I suppose. And the guy being a grifter or dbag isn't gonna be a concern for those people. Maybe they even like that? lol idk

in the case of Harry, making claims about his videos in the description that are simply untrue or highly misleading more or less.

I think that's probably worthy of an honest review.

Where I get uncomfortable is when people call someone a scammer because they dont serve up what is outside of what they intend to do. I see this a lot, and it's ok to call someone's content lame, or boring if they only do solos and never show more than maybe their un-spread butt. It's that's their lane to stay in if they want. The entitlement around the lack of spice from an incredibly diverse pool home grown performers really grinds my gears sometimes.

Calling that a scam is actually pretty shitty because no one is stealing or scamming just because they dont go far enough for our preferences.

Agreed. Certainly a level of unnecessary entitlement from certain users regarding performers personal limits.

They are selling a fantasy. Many guys in gay porn identify as straight in their daily lives, gay sex is simply a role for them. It’s a fantasy that they are selling. I liken it to Heath Ledger (RIP) and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain, heterosexual men acting in gay roles to tell a story or a fantasy. We know they aren’t actually in love or sleeping together but it’s beautiful to watch and imagine it’s real. They are using their hard bodies to give us a fantasy and something to enjoy looking at and let’s be honest to pleasure ourselves too.

There were people back then though who had an issue with that even, and wondered why they didnt cast actors who were actually gay and out to do those roles. I kind of get that. The flip side of that is that a lot of gay actors would have turned it down because they didn't want to be typecasted for only gay roles going forward. It's a weird thing.

Same with Gus Van Sant's movie "Milk" - Sean Penn did a fantastic job (and already had a plausible resemblance to Harvey Milk). It comes down to who is best to play the part. Sad that James Franco pivoted that to a really weird obsession with gay culture and (IMO) actually did start gay-baiting to push his career forward in a way that ended up being problematic and cringy (same as his male-appropriation of Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills work). <- That's probably a good example of the difference between fantasy and baiting in the context of Hollywood acting.

Again though: The. Easter. Bunny. Isn't. Real. Relax, it's just porn.

Why does it bother you so much that some Alphabet folks are willing to pay to see straight guys naked? They don’t mind showing, I don’t mind looking. Not really much different than a straight guy using a gay guy for head.

This site demonstrates that the concepts of "scamming" and "queerbaiting" are thoroughly subjective, though. Of course some OF creators actually do lie about their content or their real sexual orientations, which is bad, but it truly does seem that people on here mostly just call creators scammers and queerbaiters whenever said creator doesn't do what they want or charges more than they want to pay. I have even seen a few people on here make the claim that ALL straight OF creators are queerbaiting, which is absolutely insane to say.

The real problem is that many dudes (regardless of sexual orientation, and including OP most likely) simply do not know how to interact with this new concept of paying for sexual content and then also being able to converse with the creator of said content. Way way too many dudes on here make this extremely apparent with their level of expectation and entitlement, their demands for "authenticity" from creators, and their inability to comprehend that OF is just about selling a sexual fantasy and jerkoff material, nothing more. It isn't a dating app. Dudes need to relearn how to jerk off to some random hot naked guy and then move on with their lives.

Well said!

(And again, even before they could talk to fans so readily, even a lot of the biggest power bottoms in the business are straight as an arrow IRL. It's nothing new).

I think one of the contributors to this "issue" some porn fans have like the OP is that they even care how these performers identify irl. I personally dgaf if a pornstar is gay/straight/bi, their politics, personality are none of my concern. But gay porn fans often build odd parasocial connections to these guys and then become disappointed when reality and fantasy clash? lol smh. I think gays overwhelmingly seem to be obsessed with labels as well and that doesn't help either.

It's much easier to just focus on the scene and not even bother to look into these guys lives.
