Favorite Card Game?

I know lots of people love poker, but there's other games too. What's everyone's favorite? Non-standard decks like Uno and MTG etc are fine too, just has to be played with cards.

My all time favorite is probably Hearts. but there's a lot I've never played.

Five Crowns. From their own site, because I'm too lazy to write my own explanation of the game: a five-suited rummy-style card game.

My family played it a lot. A lot. Myself, my brother, and one of my cousins all got so good at it that most of our other relatives didn't want to play with us, so it would often just be the three of us playing

Hearts. Family reunions were designed around the Hearts Tournament. Many libations involved. The more they all drank the better I played, lol! And they cheated...lol!

Canasta. My Mother's favorite game after Cribbage. She and I played for hours and hours while I was growing up. Made me feel like such an adult. She beat me soundly almost every time!

Tripoly. Another one of my Mother's favorite card games. She was a card shark baby. Ruthless. I can still hear her voice after she won a hand "Here Kitty Kitty. Here Kitty Kitty".

Ah, you have to play it with people. The smack talk that ensues only enhances the experience, along with the panic when people sense one of the players is trying to shoot the moon

I'mma have to give cribbage a try, that's one I've never played.

Family likes Phase 10. Exploding Kittens is also good in a very non-standard kindoof way.

Poker. Learned the game in college - in the "card room" adjoining the pool room (as in billiards).

Then years later, the guys (family, in-laws, cousins, and friends) used to get together at someone's designated house, usually one Saturday a month, to play. It was just friendly dime limit, dealer's choice stuff (including some crazy ones)... snacks and favorite liquor at hand, smoke filled room... and the usual banter that goes with it.

Then there was the time I found myself in a game with some youngbloods out here in "da East" - guys sitting around with guns and s-------, it started with a $10 limit and before the night was done turned into no limit. Lost my bum that night. Never tried that again.

But yeah... fun times. Miss them.

Like mister B, I chose a game based on memories from my family. My father was very ill when I was young and we needed a game that basically required little talking. So, we played a game called 31. I still play it with my brother at least once a year.

Omg. I played crib with my dad all the time. He’d just smoke me. He’d cheat, steal my points - ii was so much fun! He even made my sister play for her allowance! I have such good memories of playing crib, and I play with one of my girls. She plays like my dad (competitive, just not a cheater.)

I like playing Whist, too. Playing cards is fun.
