How comfortable are men with being nude in communal showers and locker rooms in your country or culture?

I don't think it's relevant to the topic because, contrary to many here, I do not believe there are meaningful cultural differences with regard to men taking showers in changing areas. However, I believe there are many posters here who fantasize about such differences or who claim such differences exist without any data to support their contention.

Yes, there are meaningful differences, geographical and temporal. If you travel and live long enough, there are plenty of opportunities to see it.
You can of course believe in whatever you want. Many people believe that Jesus got up from his grave after dying.

There is nothing "perverted" about naked body. I understand if you are not happy with yours, the culture often tells us that we have to follow certain arbitrary standards.
In some places you have to get naked in order to get into the swimming pool.

what did you think I was trying to say? During that time period all boys man had to be stark naked. ALL not some ALL. According to the YMCA it was required for ALL not some FEW all had to be naked. Woman and girls could wear swim trunks. Girl swim trunks were dirty. Boys had to be visually inspected in the nude and then they could go into the water naked. There was no restrictions for females to wear swim wear

But since you didn't mention the YMCA specifically but only said "in the 20 30 40 50 60 boys and guys had to get naked to go swimming" I thought you meant generally speaking men swam naked, which was the case, perhaps, in West Virginia rivers or whatever but not in general; say, at public pools etc. It was a matter of specificity and clarification. THAT's what I "thought you were trying to say."

Not even close to accurate. It's gone in the opposite direction: no new construction of locker rooms includes gang showers. It's all individual stalls. The irony is that it's MUCH easier to get with a guy in a private stall (if it's that kind of set-up) than it was with open showers. Of course, some showers are that odd mixture of no-door shower "stalls" that have class partitions between them but no actual door. Can't quite figure how that came tone a thing.

What I derisively implied was that there was something very perverted about making young men get naked for the thrill of a person in authority. Here in Panama is very difficult to find a communal shower, so I'll just speak from my experience at gyms. I have no issues being nude in the locker room and will often undress and change there, but many guys here prefer to take everything but their underwear and finish undressing in the shower. Most men also do the thing of putting on their underwear with the towel on (which I find so cumbersome and uncomfortable).

I also noticed it depended on the area/gym I went to: many years ago I used to go to a different gym in the financial district and guys there would undress with no issues. I have changed now to a different gym chain that is closer to my house and most guys there only undress up to their boxers. I have definitely gotten some looks when I get completely naked to take a shower or dress up (not sure if those are good or bad looks lol)

I have read that it had to do with the materials used for early swimwear. They would shed fibers and clog the filtration systems. Also, one way to ensure that boys were "clean" (and thus not going to pollute the pool water) was to have them strip naked.
