These are all false equivalents.

Having a preference is not racist but discriminatory. When that preference is based on race and only race, yes it is racist.

Is really hard to tease out but in general if you do have a choice, say you are a white dude you like skinny short women and you are at a bar and the only single women at the bar is a short, skinny, black girl. If you ignore her just because she is black, you are making a decision exclusively driven by her race or skin color and not anything else. That is racist.

yes, again, I would have to say I agree with certain points. Maybe it’s just because where I grew up. It was about 35% white, 35% Hispanic, 20% black and 10% other, that I rarely see someone who absolutely WON’T date someone SOLEY due to their race. I have many many friends who typically date a specific race and at one time or another dated someone outside their race. I don’t believe that these people are only dating a specific race the majority of the time because they are racist. Just that they have a preference. Maybe for most people not from where I grew up have more bias against other races simply for the color of their skin

She said she just usually doesn’t find white men attractive. It doesn’t mean she is racist because she usually wouldn’t date a white guy. If you don’t agree on those points, there is no point in arguing, because we aren’t going to change each other’s minds. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

This is not a matter of "agree to disagree."

"She said she just usually doesn't find white men attractive."

Race is the basis of the attraction / non-attraction.

Racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

Prejudice: preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.
"prejudice against people from different backgrounds"

Racism can be positive (I find all people of X race more attractive) or negative (I find people of X race less attractive).

If most of the people you find attractive are of a certain race, in the very least, you should examine why you feel that way and ask yourself if its based on race. If it is, its a racial prejudice. I.e. racism.

Lastly, there is a misconception that you have to be "actively racist" to be a racist. That is absolutely NOT the case. People can be casually racist i.e. crossing the street when being approached by black people.

A few points...

"Racism is an extreme prejudice solely due to someone’s race and/or a belief that a specific race is superior or inferior."

No. Racism is not "Extreme prejudice." You could argue that extreme prejudice only applies to people who do extreme things like blatantly not hire someone because of their skin color or race. When you apply an adverb to a verb, you change what that verb is.

Racism

"Racism is the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person’s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics."

Agreed. Was at a friend's birthday dinner and sibling of the friend, their significant other was talking shit about how Asians eat weird shit and cannot drive. In a Korean restaurant. With an Asian (me) at the table. They were absolutely a racist piece of crap, but labeling the stuff they said as "extreme"? Nah. Very common, pretty much mainstream American racism towards Asians.

As an aside, while I get what you are saying as far as some racism can be a "positive"... it makes my partner and I want to fling ppl off a cliff, when they have chased us purely because they like x race or y race appealing. Fetish of my ethnic background, zero fucks given about the kind o person I am? Please kindly jump into a volcano.

Agreed. I dont think there is such thing as positive racism.

Having positive stereotypes of ppl doesnt always help. When asians are stereotyped as being good in math, that is an issue with kids who are asian but are not good or just not interested in math. If they have a terrible teacher, what are they to do? It puts pressure on them and creates false expectations.

That story you told about Asian stereotypes is pretty infuriating. I have seen it too. Its very annoying. I dont get why ppl cant see that what they find weird is something someone else grew up with and may even have an emotional connection to it.

And btw this is also when ppl show their true color. You have to think you are superior and I am inferior if you think my food is weird but yours is not.

i´m latino and the other day was talking with a friend and i told him that i wouldn´t date anybody that isn´t a mixed race latino. he was little bit shooked because he said that the way i said it sounded a little bit racist, but i know i´m not. What do you guys think? my perspective is that is better for everybody if everyone stays with their own. Thoughts?

You've endured a bit of a beating in this thread for stating a view that isn't uncommon even today. They aren't Archie Bunker open with this view, but yes, some "don't date, or pro-create outside their race, religion, income bracket, or class". Are you shocked that people were taken aback by your sentiment? You have to use that "Get Out" sophistry to say it in a palatable way.

i got tired of reading the replies after being called racist 10 times. now i know how some people feel, but that doesn´t change my mind and by reading other threads i´m sure i´m not the only one who thinks this way.

If you are truly interested in growing as a person but are unwilling to change your perspective, why post here? Were you looking for validation?

You said that everyone should stick to their own. Then you gave reason why that should be the case. How is that statement not racist is beyond me.

I have no idea what any of this means.

Seems simple minded to me.

Forcing people to date someone they're not attracted is literally the definition of rape. So in your example the only way for this person to not be called racist would be to have sex with someone they dont want to.

I've had two interracial relationship in my life. Sometimes, in our bed, we included some raceplay. Besides that was basically the same of same racial relationship (that included other forms of kinky so... Basically the same).

When I want sex with a woman I almost always have a preference for Black, Latina, and Asian women.

When I want sex with a man I almost always have a preference for white western European men, especially Celtic Irish/Scottish.

So far, I've never had sex with a Black man, I just know them as friends. Not much attracted to white women, sorry, just not (disclaimer: green eyed flaming redheads to the front of the line any time).

We're all obsessed with race in the US because it's a racist culture built on a foundational structure of slavery and native American genocide. It's way past time for truth & reconciliation and reparations. Otherwise, there's no way out of perpetual conflict and a degraded culture.

What a strange line of thought....

I never said anything about forcing anyone, did I?

Please read my post again carefully.

People can say and think what they want. You don’t have to listen to them. If you don’t like it move on. We all have are own believes and it really is not anyone’s business. Our rights are being taken away from us and it’s not right.

What right(s) do you think are being taken away from you as it pertains to interracial relationships?

The right to be racist in public more than likely.

There's more than a few racist shitheels that have aired their dirty laundry in this thread
