Men who feel uncomfortable with nudity and seeing other men's junk in locker rooms, Why?

We have a gym at work so I usually go in the late afternoon ( between 3-5) on what seems to be slower days. At most there have been a couple of people in the lockerroom when I am in there. I workout, strip naked at my locker, walk to the showers, towel in hand. Get clean, walk back to my locker, towel over my shoulder. At my locker I put on lotion, deodorant and cologne nude. The one or two people that "may" be in there with me don't seem bothered. It feels great!!!
Precisely how it should be done.

Does anyone know/have direct experience of whether male professional US Sports teams are equally as puritanical in the locker room. Surely not? There'd be so many players walking around post game in wet boxers
Based on my experience and what I've been told, US sports teams' locker rooms are one of the few places where men feel comfortable with being naked with each other. The other two are in the military and some fraternities.

I do feel like straight guys (especially the younger ones) these days are super nervous about being naked in front of gay guys. The gym I go to is about 80% straight and I see a definite difference in how they act in front of the gays guys (myself included) vs. their hetero counterparts. The gym isn't particularly cruisy and the gay guys are mostly very low key and there to work out... not hit on anyone. Most of us aren't the least bit interested in them, or trying to check them out, even if some of us do "read" gay. But, you'd think we were constantly ogling them, or worse, given the lengths they go to in order to conceal themselves, avoid eye contact, or suggest in any way they might be remotely gay-friendly. It's kind of annoying (it's 2023 after all). But it is what it is.

I’m secure with every part of my body. I don’t usually change in locker rooms. When I do, after a swim workout for example, I don’t show off or hide (unless someone is being creepy).

I don’t think it should matter to anyone else what anyone else wants to do in the locker room unless you are intentionally making someone uncomfortable.

Point being, it isn’t always self-consciousness.

I think that’s part of it for some. There definitely is a “you can’t use me to wank later” aspect. Onlyfans or not.
There's a saying that "a thief believes everyone steals." I always believe that those who assume someone would use seeing them naked for masturbation later are projecting their own tendencies or thoughts onto others. I think that's why most straight guys freak out when they think someone is checking them out, because they know how they think and behave if they were in the same scenario but with women.

What a load of bullshit.

So do women that carry mace while jogging through secluded areas do so because they know they would also take the opportunity to assault someone?

I think that is a slightly different scenario!

Of course it is actually a different scenario, and a much more dangerous one, but it is still assuming people worry about being prey ONLY because they would be a predator if the roles were reversed.
